Mary B. Truly grew up paddling and exploring Maryland’s many streams and rivers that lead into the Chesapeake Bay. She uses her skills as a painter and writer to express her love and appreciation for the natural world we all share. Mary hopes to fulfill her dream of a wild orca encounter in the waters near her new home by the Salish Sea in Port Angeles, Washington.

She grew up in the rolling hills of Freeland, Maryland, and has traveled all over the U.S. There have been very few times when Mary has not had a drawing book and colored pencils by her side. She has always dreamed of creating children’s books filled with love, kindness, and adventure.
