Thomas J. Massey
As a young boy, I was sure I wanted to grow up to be an artist. As time went by, I also developed other interests, including a desire to understand philosophy and ethical principles. And so I ultimately decided on a career in law.
During my law practice I could draw on my knowledge of anatomy to better serve my clients. And I have always accepted the challenge of faithfully drawing figures and portraits.
Now after 44 years of demanding litigation, I am quite happy to have the time to devote to creating art. Hopefully I will capture some of the magic, wonder and beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the fine people in it!
I believe a painting should strive to convert an idea: such as the interaction of forces in nature, the passage of time or one of life’s journeys. A prime example: the interaction of ocean and land.
Many thanks of your interest and support of my art.
